Skiing in Dubai

I got a chance to visit Dubai on my way back to California and I saw the famous Dubai Ski Resort. The first time I remember hearing of it, I thought the Bedouins had figured out a way to ski on the sand dunes (is it possible?). But then I learnt that the slopes were made of soft white artificial snow. It's placed conveniently in the middle of the mall of Dubai, a totally extraordinary place itself. It's just amazing how when you step outside the mall, Dubai is literally cooking like an oven, yet in the core of the mall, it's as cold as ice.

This is what it looked like from the outside.

I found some videos on YouTube featuring the Ski slopes. I hope these give you a little idea of this magnificent feat.

There was one with Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Davenport as well (don't really need to bother with this one, no clue of why I'm posting either).

The whole Dubai experience was totally awe inspiring. They've made a small place in the desert into something huge and exhilarating in a matter of decades. Even the roads are magnificent, with numerous lanes and no stopping at toll plazas for the toll, instead there's a little sticker like thing on your windshield where the toll is deducted from while you drive by without stopping. I guess it's safe to say that Dubai is definitely more highly advanced then the United States. However, I found a little intimidated with such abundance of wealth all over the place. Anyway, welcome to Dubai.
