San Jose Earthquake Aftershock!

Just felt a major aftershock! I was talking to Farzeed and I said "Earthquake", he didn't register at first. Was too short to actually do something about it. This was a minute or two ago. 3.7 on the Richter Scale, you can find out more here.

Update: There have been over 30 aftershocks so far, according to this video:

San Jose Earthquake!

It's been a while since I've felt an earthquake, but today it was worth the ride. San Jose and the San Francisco Bay Area was hit by an earthquake (about an hour ago). It was recorded at 5.6 on the Richter Scale, which is a decent quake by all means. You can learn more over here at http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/latest.htm (the page will change in a few hours). CNN reported the earthquake about 15 minutes ago as well and you can find the report over here.

The earthquake was 9 miles North East of San Jose City hall and the activity was apparently just 5.7 miles under the surface. My room shook like it was made out of paper and this wasn't even close to the worse earthquakes I've been in. I tried to call up friends and family to check how they were doing but the AT&T/Cingular network was down and my cellphone seemed totally useless. What if there was a bigger quake?

Update: San Jose Mercury had quite an article and it can be found here at: http://origin.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_7325191. Apparently there were aftershocks later on, almost 45 minutes later, but they were quite mild and were around about 2ish on the Richter Scale. The first big jolt lasted about 30 seconds, which is quite a while. The place shook sideways quite a bit. (Oct 31, 2007 12:45 AM)
